When in Chicago, there is one building that stands head and shoulders above the rest: the Sears Tower.

The Sears Tower is not only the tallest building in Chicago, it is also the tallest building in the world. So, it makes sense that most tourists who come to Chicago head for the Sears Tower Skydeck to see a great view of the city and more.

Just getting to the Sears Tower Skydeck once inside the Sears Tower is an adventure unto itself. The elevators feel like an amusement ride as the travel up to 1600 feet in one minute.

Standing at 1730 feet (including the twin antenna towers), the Sears Tower is often on tourists must-see lists of things to do. The Skydeck is only 1300 feet off of the ground, but visitors still have a fantastic view of Chicago's famous cityscape.

For those traveling with children, the Sears Tower Skydeck has some special activities planned. There is a scavenger hunt that can be printed from home or picked up upon entrance into the Skydeck. The object of the scavenger hunt is to find as many of the items as possible from the Skydeck's windows.

The Sears Tower Skydeck also has little windows just at the right height for children. These windows stretch around the Skydeck so children will be able to have their own views of all that is Chicago.

Also, a tip for those traveling with children is to plan a late afternoon visit to the Sears Tower Skydeck. 4:00 is usually a less crowded time and provides a great location for viewing the sunset.

In addition to a view unlike any other in Chicago, there are many things to look at while in the Sears Tower Skydeck. There are interactive exhibits that detail Chicago's rich history.

Also, there are high powered binoculars that allow visitors to see Chicago's sites from an up-close, yet aerial view.

The Sears Tower Skydeck in Chicago is fully handicapped accessible. In addition, strollers are welcome and can easily be accommodated on the elevator and in the Skydeck itself.

When you are ready for your exciting trip to the Sears Tower Skydeck, the attraction opens at 10:00 am every day. It closes at 8:00 pm in the winter and 10:00pm in the summer.

Admission to the Sears Tower Skydeck is $11.95 for adults, $9.95 for seniors, and $8.50 for children three through eleven. Children under the age of three are admitted free of charge.
