If your love is Italian food, then be sure to visit Italian Village in Chicago.
Italian Village is home to three authentic Italian restaurants owned by the Capitanini family. Their philosophy is that to celebrate the very best of the Italian dining experience you must serve great food, have great service and provide it all in an inviting dècor.
Located in Chicago on Monroe Street, Italian Village boasts three great restaurants under one roof. The first is La Cantina which is on the lower level of Italian Village.
La Cantina is an Italian Steak and Seafood Restaurant that is decorated in the tradition of a cozy wine cellar. It is the most casual restaurant of the three restaurants located in Italian Village. What truly makes La Cantina unique are the large saltwater aquariums which separate the dining booths.
La Cantina at Italian Village serves traditional Italian favorites from all regions of Italy. A few of the traditional delights at La Cantina in Italian Village include dishes such as Spaghetti, Ravioli, Veal alla Marsala and Fettuccine Alfredo.
On the second floor in Italian Village is The Village Restaurant. The Village features a warm and charming re-creation of a small Italian town.
The menu at The Village features mainly North Italian dishes. A few of the dinner choices at The Village at Italian Village include Pollo alla Vesuvio (oven-roasted chicken served with potatoes), Scaloppine alla Toscanini (sliced beef tenderloin and mushrooms in a Marsala wine sauce), and Linguine con Frutta di Mare (fresh mussels, squid, clams, scallops, and shrimp, in a zesty tomato sauce served with linguine).
Finally, on the top level of Italian Village is Vivere. Vivere is an eye-catching, boldly decorated upscale Italian restaurant. The dècor features beautiful burgundy colors, with gold sculptures and accents, and swirled wood designs. Vivere has received accolades from Esquire, Wine Spectator as Best New Restaurant.
Vivere in Italian Village is where you go for fine Italian cuisine. This contemporary Italian restaurant serves up what it calls new Regional Italian cuisine. For dinner at Vivere, you will dine on delectables such as Petto d'Anatra (pan-roasted breast of duck), Tonno Scottato (seared Ahi tuna) and Agnolottini di Fagiano (pheasant-filled pasta), and Ravioli di Zucca, Castagne e Ricotta (ravioli stuffed with butternut squash and ricotta).
An amazing feature of Italian Village is its massive wine cellar. The wine cellar at Italian Village is shared by La Cantina, The Village and Vivere. With over 45,000 bottles of wine, the wine cellar at Italian Village is known to be the largest wine cellar in the Midwest.
The large wine cellar at Italian Village has been recognized and given the Grand Award by Wine Spectator every year since 1984. This is a very special honor for Italian Village. The Grand Award is the highest award given by Wine Spectator to only those restaurants that display a passion for wine, have a large selection of top wines and offers a selection and presentation that compliments the menu.
A visit to Italian Village for Italian eats can be suitable for a family outing, or a romantic evening for two. Whether you are a connoisseur of wine lover or Italian eats, there is something to suit everyone's taste buds at Italian Village.
