Day Three - Chicago Trip
Published On: Dec 19, 2006
The Magnificent Mile
Start day three with a stroll down the Magnificent Mile. If you're a big shopper, then this is going to be a real treat. With everything from Tiffany's to Chanel to Mark Shale and beyond, there are hundreds of stores and shops to choose from. Even if you'd rather see the sights, there is much to see here to. A great way to explore the city is on a walking tour that highlights famous buildings and the brilliant minds responsible for designing them. The Chicago Architecture Foundation holds tours at various times throughout the year.
Imaginative Outdoor Sculptures
Peruse some of Chicago's innovative outdoor sculptures. A few must see's include Calder's Flamingo, the mystifying Cloud Gate, Picasso's unnamed statue, Chagall's The Four Seasons, Dubuffet's Monument with Standing Beast and the State Street Clock.
Delectable Deep Dish Pizza
It wouldn't be a trip to Chicago without trying a signature deep dish pizza. Why not go right to the source where it all began - Pizzeria Uno. Giordano's has great stuffed pizza too.
Navy Pier
Ease into the evening at Navy Pier. Just look for the gargantuan Ferris wheel and head in that direction. Here you can eat, drink, shop, explore the architecture or see a show. Bring the kids to the Chicago Children's Museum, or to go on the rides. Grab a drink at Charlie's Ale House. Check out a 3D show at the IMAX theatre. Experience the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
